Fireworks And Concert Canceled For Lubbock’s 4th Celebration
This year’s Fourth of July fireworks display in McKenzie Park was canceled Monday due to the drought we’re in and Wednesday it was announced that the annual concert that precedes the fireworks show has been called off as well. This is the second year in a row the fireworks have been canceled. Last year it was because of the threat of rain! They still went on with the concert but moved it to the Fair Park Coliseum, but a sparse crowd showed up. I imagine that lack of attendance influenced this year’s decision to cancel. The rest of this year’s festival, including a parade and street fair will go on as scheduled.
