It hasn’t been long since Season 2 of ‘The Voice‘ ended, with Team Blake Shelton member Jermaine Paul taking home the crown. But already, NBC is making plans for the next season of the hit singing competition, and network chief Bob Greenblatt has announced that the show will now air twice a year.

That’s right, fans! ‘The Voice’ is going to give you twice the action and drama next time around. Although, sadly, you might not get a double dose of Blake Shelton. Adding an extra season to the line-up might conflict with the coaches’ busy touring schedules, so NBC hasn’t announced an official coaches’ lineup just yet, as it could get a complete makeover.

“We’ve got deals and options on all of them for the next two cycles,” Greenblatt said. “But they are all such busy, working musicians…. their schedules start to back up on each other. We don’t know yet whether it will make sense for them to do two cycles.”

Blake Shelton already has a jam-packed summer, with shows scattered across the country. And in October, he’ll be playing a seven-day cruise off the coast of Miami with dozens of other artists, including Trace Adkins, Justin Moore, Jarrod Neimann and Chuck Wicks. It’s hard to imagine Shelton having the free time to film a fall season, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Either way, it sounds like Blake will definitely coach again at some point and we can’t wait to see him in action!

We’ve all done it. We buy a small bag of groceries at the store to donate to a food bank. We bring toys for the tots. We buy some gloves and a scarf to put on a tree for a needy child. But few of us have done what Rankin Paynter did for his Clark County community.

Paynter is a businessman in a Kentucky town where a Kmart store is going out of business. He asked the store what would happen to the unsold merchandise left on the shelves and was told that “power buyers” would come in and purchase the remaining inventory.

But they won’t be doing that, because Paynter beat them to it. He spent six hours and $200,000 buying everything that was left in the store. Then, after checking out on four different registers, he donated everything he had just purchased to charity. Paynter bought out the Kmart and then passed the savings onto his community.

Said Paynter, simply put, “It’s time to give back.”

A Clark County Community Service employee said of the good deed, “This will be the first year we have enough hats, coats and gloves for all the children we serve.”

Taylor Swift‘s rocking singing voice in this cryptic song has been the perfect addition to ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack, but so far, we haven’t seen the ‘Eyes Open’ and ‘Safe & Sound’ singer do much with the music she made for the movie (other than contribute to an awesome soundtrack, of course). Until now, that is. Swift just released a creative stop-motion lyric video of her hit song ‘Eyes Open‘ — and we can’t get enough.

The entire video takes place at a desk. While that might sound boring, as pencils and papers move around displaying the handwritten (and sometimes colorfully decorated) lyrics to the song, the clip is anything but ordinary. Watching papers unfold and then crumble up to clutter the desk is kind of a magical experience.

Swift posted the creative new video on her Facebook page just Thursday (May 17), and within hours, it received more than 14,000 likes, 700 shares, and hundreds of supportive comments from fans.

The sweetheart singer contributed both ‘Eyes Open’ and ‘Safe & Sound’ (a team effort with the Civil Wars) to the star-studded soundtrack, and while we’ve seen the hauntingly beautiful video for ‘Safe & Sound,’ this is the first treatment that ‘Eyes Open’ has gotten.

The song was penned from the perspective of ‘The Hunger Games’ main character, Katniss. “It basically serves as a warning for her not to trust anyone — in many ways the opposite of ‘Safe & Sound,’” Swift explained.

The liner notes for ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack also feature Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annies, Punch Brothers, Kid Cudi, the Decemberists and a handful of other notable artists.

A lyric video doesn’t sound very interesting, but this one is worth a watch. Trust us!

Finally, the star-studded CMT Music Awards lineup is ready for your eyes! And from the looks of it, this year CMT could be more about the live talent than they will be about actually giving out awards.

Among those set to rock Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena during the 11th annual CMT Music Awards ceremony on June 6 are Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Zac Brown Band and Lady Antebellum.

Of course, all of these artists have been nominated for awards too, so they are likely to spend quite a bit of time on stage. Carrie Underwood is set to have the night of her life with a stunning five nominations, while Lady Antebellum have racked up a respectable three.

With all the outpouring of love and mourning over the death of Donna Summer, no country artist has expressed the true loss of such an iconic artist as eloquently as Dolly Parton. The ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer issued an official statement about the death of her fellow singer and songwriter on Thursday.

“I can’t believe we’ve lost another wonderful singer. Donna, like Whitney, had one of the greatest voices ever. I loved her records,” says Parton (quota via MSO PR). As expected, Parton is as distraught by Donna Summer’s death as she was by Whitney Houston’s passing in February.

Of Summer, Parton adds, “She was the disco queen, and will remain so. I knew her and found her to be one of the most likable and fun people ever. She will be missed and remembered.”

Known best for her disco hits ‘Last Dance,’ ‘McArthur Park’ and ‘Hot Stuff,’ Summer also had a little known connection to country music — at least as a songwriter. She penned ‘Starting Over Again’ with her surviving husband, and the song later became a No. 1 for both Parton in 1980 and Reba McEntire in 1995.

Summer died Thursday morning (May 17) at the age of 63 after a battle with lung and breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano, their daughters Brooklyn and Amanda, as well as her daughter Mimi from her previous marriage. “Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time,” writes her family in an official statement.

By now, everyone knows that award-winning country star Taylor Swift has a huge heart. And thanks to her award-winning, record-breaking music career, the ‘Mean’ hitmaker has a hefty bank account, too. What do you get when you put those things together? A gigantic donation to a new education center at the Country Music Hall of Fame.

In fact, the six-time Grammy award winner’s donation of $4 million is the largest gift by a musician in Country Music Hall of Fame history, and now, the new education center will officially be known as the Taylor Swift Education Center. The exhibit and classroom space is scheduled to open in 2014. Not a bad legacy for the young country star, who will likely be just 24 or 25 when the center opens.

“In terms of what it will allow us to do, we do education very well now,” museum director Kyle Young told the Associated Press (via Billboard). “It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs, and I’m happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do. Is there a better person out there who’s in touch with a young audience? I think not. I was joking we should be paying her to do that. I was only joking.”

Country music’s sweetheart has a storied relationship with the Hall of Fame. She signed her record contract there and gave one of her first public performances on the building’s plaza. In the past, she has donated her talents to the All for the Hall fundraiser benefits and loaned the museum her dresses, stage costumes and instruments for display.

Since May 2010, a free-standing Taylor Swift multimedia exhibit has been one of the museum’s most popular attractions.

In addition to her generosity to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Swift has made the news a number of times in recent years thanks to her kind heart in general. Earlier this year, she invited two-time cancer patient Kevin McGuire to be her date at the ACMs after the 18-year-old invited Ms. Swift to his prom. Just this month, she made headlines for ensuring sure that a 13-year-old fan who missed Swift’s stop in Sacramento (due to a tragic drunk driving accident) would have tickets for her next show in the city and even sent her a goodie bag to tide her over.

Who knows? Maybe the next Taylor Swift will find his or her start in the forthcoming Taylor Swift Education Center. After all, that’s the goal for creating the education program.

Love can get messy sometimes. Divorces can get even messier. But, what often gets the messiest is the stuff left behind after the divorce that the remaining spouse must get rid of to move on. This Superior, WI woman seems to have found the best way, and a local radio station got all the photos.

Rather than posting adds for well-priced used items on Craigslist, the woman decided to have a “sale” in front of her home. The good news for interested shoppers was that everything was free. The bad news was that everything seemed to be somewhat destroyed, including a green GMC Yukon covered in vulgar graffiti indicating the former owner of the SUV to be a “cheater.” There was also a pile of charred remains of stuff, clearly the result of a small fire.

The “X-Husband Sale” stopped traffic on the woman’s street as passers-by paused to examine the items and photograph the result of the divorcee’s wrath. The traffic back-up prompted a visit from police, who spoke to someone in the home, but did nothing further with the mess on the front lawn.

Later, the SUV was gone, but the “sale” remained open. When asked, Superior Police Sergeant William Lear explained there is no law against spray painting a vehicle in your own yard. If there’s questionable language on the vehicle, he said, “Depends on the language, there’s a fine line there. If it’s creating a disturbance, if there’s threats, if it’s blocking traffic, we can tow it.”

According to court documents, the couple filed for divorce in July of 2011. A neighbor confirmed that the divorce became final on Tuesday and that set off the preparations for the “sale.” You can see more NSFW photos below. Is this a fitting revenge?

In 2011, there were more racial or ethnic minorities born in the United States than white babies. This marks the first time in history that minorities make up the majority of births in the US.

Of the 4.1 million babies born last year, 50.4% were minorities, while 49.6% were white. A total of 1.99 million were white, while another 1.05 million are classified as Hispanic. The remaining are black, mixed race, Asian, Native American or Pacific Islander.

According to the latest census data, there are now 114.1 million minorities in the US, which comprises 36.6% of the country’s total population.

This landmark in minority births is coming at time in which Hispanic and Asian immigration is leveling off — if not going into a decline. Yet because the Hispanic population, in particular, trends young they are still having babies at higher rate than the older white population.

Demographers estimate that the entire US population will become ‘majority minority’ sometime between 2040 and 2050.

When it comes to country music, it’s Taylor Swift‘s world and we’re all just living in it — according to Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list. The 22-year-old music mogul placed No. 11 on the exclusive countdown, making her the highest-ranked country musician.

The list ranked each celebrity based on five factors: money, television/radio, press, web and social rank. Swift’s strongest showing was in social appeal, landing at No. 7. The crossover appeal of her last multi-platinum album, ‘Speak Now,’ also proved helpful, giving the entertainer a No. 14 placement in television/radio. Swift racked in an impressive $57 million in the last year, making her the 22nd richest celebrity on the list.

But the ‘Ours’ isn’t the only powerful star in country music. Toby Keith placed No. 49 overall, earning a cool $55 million from his successful singing career, I Love This Bar and Grill restaurant brand and new line of Wild Shot tequila. Kenny Chesney follows closely at No. 53, earning an impressive $44 million on the strength of his rigorous tour schedule.

Swift’s profile will no doubt rise significantly with the release of her highly-anticipated new studio album, which is expected to be released later this year. No specific details have been released, but British rocker Ed Sheeran is the latest confirmed collaborator on the project. In an interview with the New Yorker this past fall, Swift revealed that the songs she’s penned thus far for her 2012 album are “sad.”

“Being so busy, there’s not a lot of time to stop in the middle of the day and just kind of think about this feeling that you just realized about a relationship you had a year ago,” says Swift. “The ones I love the most end up happening very quickly.”

When fire engulfed 12-year-old Justin Jackon’s Milton, FL, home on Sunday at 2AM, his mother was at work and his father was out of state. So if anyone was going to save his four younger siblings, it was going to have to be him.

Knowing what he had to do, Allen made three trips back into the burning home. The most harrowing was when he pulled out his three-year-old sister, who remained asleep during the ordeal.

“I had to pick her up and she was real stiff. I was just real scared at that point,” said Justin, who also had to kick a door in to gain clear access to her room.

Not only did he save his younger brothers and sister, but Justin had the presence of mind to let the four family dogs out. (Although, sadly, two still perished in the flames.)

The house ended up burning to the ground, but Justin downplayed talk that he was a hero. “Not really,” he said when asked if he thought what he did was heroic. “I was just helping my family and stuff.”

Justin’s aunt, Cri Jackson, disagrees with his modest assessment.

“He ran back in not once, not twice, but three times to save his siblings,” she said. “He’s our little hero.”

Coffee drinkers no longer need to fret over health concerns and their beloved beverage, according to a new study by the National Cancer Institute. In fact, feel free to pour an extra cup in the morning because, the study suggests, coffee may actually prolong life.

Over the course of a 14-year study, researchers found that men who drank at least six cups of coffee a day had a 10 percent lower chance of dying than those who drank none. Women had a 15 percent lower chance.

“I would say it offers some reassurance to coffee drinkers,” said Neal Freedman, a nutritional epidemiology researcher and one of the authors of the study. “Other studies have suggested a higher risk of mortality with coffee drinking and we didn’t see that in our study.”

The study looked at the coffee habits of 229,000 men and 173,000 women from 1995 to 2008. It found that even people who drank between two and five cups of coffee daily seemed to have a lower risk of mortality. This applied to both regular and decaffeinated coffee.

It’s important to note, however, that the study highlights only a potential connection between coffee and decreased risk of death. Simply put, researchers aren’t quite sure why their findings highlight an uptick in longevity.

Still, Freedman said, it’s entirely possible that coffee may be beneficial in some unknown way. “Coffee has more than 1,000 compounds and we really don’t know what effects those compounds have on health,” he said.

Like we told you earlier this year, rising country trio Gloriana will perform their latest hit, ‘(Kissed You) Good Night’ on the May 21 episode of the hit reality show, ‘The Bachelorette.’ The band is set to serenade the newest Bachelorette Emily Maynard and her love-driven hopefuls during a unique one-on-one date segment.

The trio’s latest television appearance seems a natural fit, considering member Rachel Reinert’s fondness for the popular television show. “I’m a huge fan of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette,” gushes the band’s only female member (quote via Warner Music). “I watched Emily when she was a contestant on the Bachelor and I was an instant fan of hers, so hearing that she is a fan of our band was a wonderful surprise! I’m excited to watch the new season, and I’m even more excited that we got to be a part of it.”

‘(Kissed You) Good Night’ is on the verge of becoming the band’s highest charting single, as it’s currently sitting at No. 17 on the country songs chart. Their debut single, ‘Wild at Heart,’ reached No. 15 in 2009, selling more than 500,000 digital copies. The band’s current radio offering is the second single from Gloriana’s yet-to-be-released ‘A Thousand Miles Left Behind’ and is the band’s first radio single since member Cheyenne Kimball’s departure in 2011.

With the release of Alan Jackson’s long-awaited ‘Thirty Miles West’ just weeks way, the country superstar has divulged the official track listing for the 13-track album. The project, Jackson’s first under his own label Alan Country Records, in partnership with EMI Nashville, may be his 17th studio attempt, but the Georgia native admits he is still able to create a relevant album title that references his own person life.

“There’s this highway that’s been in existence for forever now — it’s called the Dixie Highway and it runs from north of Michigan all the way down to South Florida, and I wrote a song about it that’s on the album,” he explains. “I grew up on Highway 34 outside of Newnan, Georgia, and that’s where we came up with ‘Thirty Miles West.’ I think we were about thirty miles west of the official part of the Dixie Highway that runs through Georgia.”

When speaking about the album’s current radio offering, ‘So You Don’t Have to Love Me Anymore,’ Jackson says the connection to the song was instant. “At first, it raised the hair on my arms when I heard the demo,” he says. “It’s the kind of song that made me want to be in country music. I’m such a big fan of that kind of song. Sad songs, break-up songs and heartache songs are always the best ones to bring that emotion out … People are comparing it to a new ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today.’ I wouldn’t want to put myself in that category with George [Jones], but it is a great song.”

Written by esteemed songwriter Jay Knowles and Jackson’s nephew, Adam Wright, ‘So You Don’t Have To Love Me Anymore’ is Top 30 and climbing. ‘Thirty Miles West’ will hit store shelves and digital retailers on June 5.

Kenny Chesney is gearing up to head back out on the road on his first major stadium run since last summer’s Goin’ Coastal Tour. Not only is he sharing the stage with his fellow country music superstar Tim McGraw, but also famed Nashville musician Kenny Greenberg.

Greenberg is the Academy of Country Music’s 2012 Guitarist of the Year and a veteran session musician in Music City who has previously collaborated with Bob Seger, Willie Nelson and Etta James. The legendary guitarist has frequently worked with Chesney on past musical projects, including the singer’s forthcoming new album ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl’ (in stores June 19) and his previous album, ‘Hemingway’s Whiskey.’

“Kenny is one of the best guitarists out there today, period,” Chesney says of his fellow Kenny, Greenberg. “He’s been a great friend and collaborator over the years, right through ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl,’ and it’s going to be amazing to have him at the party each night this summer.”

Greenberg will join Chesney’s already solid band of musicians, which includes Wyatt Beard (keyboards), Sean Paddock (drums), Steve Marshall (bass), Clayton Mitchell (guitar), Jim Bob Gairrett (steel guitar) and Jon Conley (guitar/fiddle).

The highly-anticipated Brothers of the Sun Tour, also featuring Jake Owen and Grace Potter, is set to kick off on June 2 in Tampa, Fla.

If it’s possible to become addicted to adopting animals, Miranda Lambert definitely has an addiction — and she might need rehab for the kind-hearted. According to the sassy songstress’ Twitter feed, she has welcomed yet another stray pup into the Shelton household.

Apparently, the furry black and white pup she rescued from the streets just a month ago wasn’t enough to fill the ‘Over You’ singer’s heart. On Tuesday, the singer shared the photo of this adorable black dog that she found, which she appropriately named after one of country music’s most legendary females.

“New puppy I found last week. Loretta! She will go to a new good home soon I hope. : ) or maybe she is already. Hehe,” Lambert tweeted. Although dozens of her 953,280 Twitter followers replied that they would take the sweet girl off of the country star’s hands, Lambert hasn’t mentioned finding a home (other than her own) for the latest canine addition.

Of course, people are starting to wonder how Lambert ends up with all of these strays. She answered the question that’s been burning up all of our minds when she conversed with Pistol Annies bandmate Ashley Monroe. Apparently, it’s because she’s magnetic — pups just come to her.

“@ashleymonroe said I have “dogdar”. They find me,” Lambert told Monroe. “And I hope I never see the people that dump them. For [their] sake. It won’t be pretty,” she added.

Let that be a lesson to any of you who have been tempted to abandon an animal: If you’re near Miranda Lambert, she’ll probably make the castoff her newest furry friend. And if she finds you, you better watch out!
