Entertainment Opportunities This Christmas Weekend in Lubbock [VIDEO]

If you’ve got family in town this weekend and need to keep everyone occupied, here are some opportunities. In the Depot District at the Cactus Theatre Friday night is the Cactus Family Christmas Show with music and comedy. It’s perfect for the whole family. Tomorrow night at the Cactus is the first ever Rock City Christmas Eve Service, hosted by Pastor Jeff McCreight, who just happens to be a phenomenal singer. There will be plenty of music and of course the real meaning of Christmas. It’s free, of course, but you must have a ticket, so call the box office 806-762-3233. At Trinity Church on the South Loop near University, there will be three shows Saturday, 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. with lots of singing and dancing and costumes. Kids are sure to love this. The theme is “whoville”.

Or take in a tour of the Christmas lights, via helicopter. Wally Moyers of Skyview Helicopters will take you on a tour high above Lubbock to see the lights of the city, Texas Tech and Ransom Canyon. For more info go to SkyviewChristmasTours.com.

Good movies this weekend. At Cinemark Movies 16 the new Matt Damon movie, “We Bought a Zoo”, has opened as well as Tom Cruise in the new “Mission Impossible” movie; “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “The Adventures of Tin Tin” have opened as well; Sunday “Warhorse” and “The Darkest Hour” will open.

So, there are some suggestions so you won’t go stir crazy. But enjoy your time off, if you are one of the lucky ones, and enjoy your families.
And, oh yes, Merry Christmas! Check out this video. It just might make you want to check out the lights at a little higher elevation.
