Coming up this Sunday is a day that probably is better celebrated on a weekday on an average workday. But National Boss Day always falls on October 16 and this year that's a Sunday and of course some people work on Sundays. This special day originated in 1958 by Patricia Haroski, an employee with State Farm Insurance in Deerfield, Illinois. She chose the date because it's her father's birthday, with her purpose for the day to show appreciation for her boss and other bosses.

So, let's take moment here and think about all the good things your boss does for you. I personally think we ought to be thankful we even have a boss. Because unless you're self-employed, not having a boss would mean you are jobless. Popular ways to say "thanks" according to this site are cards, a lunch in the boss's honor, flowers or gift certificates. Or maybe doing something to make the workplace a happier spot. Monday morning think I'll bring the donuts!
