Waylon Jennings who started the "outlaw" movement in country music back in the mid 70's, had a run in with the law for real.

On this day in 1977 Jennings, along with his secretary Lori Evans, was arrested on conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine. In fact, Waylon was arrested in the middle of a recording session.

Jennings had an addiction to the drug, reportedly spending $1,500 a day to feed his habit. He got off cocaine in 1984, quitting cold turkey.

The arrest inspired Waylon to record the song, "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out Of Hand."
