One of the annual events my family does is a trip every October just down the street to "The Pumpkin Patch". We did just last Sunday and what beautiful specimens to select from. Hundreds of pumpkins are scattered in the front yard at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7702 Indiana Avenue in Lubbock. It's the perfect spot to take a photo or select gourds for your fall decorations, carving, or pie-making. The church has done this as a fund raiser for several years. They get the pumpkins from one of their missions in Farmington, New Mexico. The money raised is spread back into the community. Examples of who all has benefited in years past? The American Red Cross, the South Plains Food Bank and many many others. The pumpkins are very reasonably priced and it's a way we can all celebrate the harvest together. The lot is open October 1 through October 31, weather permitting, until dark.
