Sometimes there are singers that just out of nowhere explode onto the music scene. Such is the cash with the featured artist on today's "retro rack". Donna Fargo was being played every radio station, pop or country in the early 70's.

Fargo was unique in that she wrote her own material, one of the few female artist in country music to do that.

In 1972, she hit is big with the song "Happiest Girl In The Whole USA". The song went to Number One on the country charts and Number eleven on the Top 40 charts.

It would be named the single and song of the year at the ACM's and single of the year at the CMA's. Fargo will also be named the Top Female Artist of the Year at the ACM's.

Her follow up song "Funny Face" would go to Number One and would reach Number Five on the pop charts.

In 1979, she faded from the spotlight for awhile because of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She has fought the disease and today continues to write and perform.
