Thanks to some old Lubbock Police Garage space, Texas Tech art students have received an early Christmas gift--another place to show their work! Friday at 5:30 p.m. is the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the gallery at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts. The gallery is located directly across the street from the center in former police garages at 1108 5th in downtown Lubbock. According to this site, the director of Tech's School of Art, Tina Fuentes, says it'll benefit the Lubbock community as well. "This central location will provide our gallery visitors an easy access for viewing these exhibits. We anticipate that this strategically planned, collaborative community engagement will make for a unique learning and networking opportunity." The grand opening coincides with December's First Friday Art Trail from 6-9 Friday night.
