Chalk up a winner for Celebrity Attractions this weekend. "Shrek the Musical" comes to the City Bank Auditorium Friday and Saturday. This new musical opened on Broadway in December 2009 and is based on the story and character from the book and movie, "Shrek".

The stage musical's characters will look familiar. There's the swamp-dwelling ogre of Shrek who is befriended by a wise-cracking donkey, and of course there's the feisty Princess Fiona and the vertically-challenged villain Lord Farquaad.

There will be three performances only. Shows are set for both Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday there's a matinee at 2 p.m. I checked on ticket sales and they do have some seats left but filling up very quickly. For tickets contact Selectaseat or call 806-770-2000.

Also this weekend, Friday night at the Cactus Theatre in the Depot District, check out the John Lennon tribute show called "Starting Over--the John Lennon Experience".
