Set’em Up For Vern Gosdin On Thirsty Thursday [VIDEIO]

On this edition of Thirsty Thursday is a singer that was simply known as “the Voice”. Vern Gosdin a big part of the traditional movement of the 80′s in country music, charting several hit songs.

His style was compared to that of Lefty Frizzell and Merle Haggard. His songs were mostly about cheating and romances are found in barrooms.

In 1988, Gosdin hit number one with a song about a love leaving, and to get over the hurt the person goes to the bar, and plays a certain song over and over.

The song is “Set’em Up Joe’”. Not only is the song about an individual drowning his sorrows, it’s also Gosdin’s tribute of country music legend Ernest Tubb and his song “Walking the Floor Over You”.

Vern Gosdin died back in 2009 in Nashville. He was 74.
