On today's "retro rack" is a singer who, when she was growing , would sing in another room because she was too shy to look at company that would come over to hear her.

Patty Loveless at one time wrote and sang with Grand Ole Opry stars The Wilburn Brothers. She would hang out back stage and learn from the likes of Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton.

In 1976 she married Terry Lovelace who was the drummer for the Wilburns. They moved to North Carolina where they both played in rock bands.

After her father passed away, Loveless divorced her husband and moved back to Nashville in 1985 to pursue her country music career.

Her brother Roger, who was also her manager, secured a deal for her with MCA Records and released her first album. In 1988 she was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and married producer Emory Gordy Jr.

Patty Loveless is a multiple CMA award winner. In fact her album "When Fallen Angels Fly" won the CMA's album of the year award in 1995. It was only the second time a woman has won.

One of my favorites from her is an earlier hit, "Timber I'm Fallen In Love". Patty Loveless in today's " retro rack".
