On the "retro rack" is a singer who began performing at age 6 but won several titles at horse shows and the title of California Horse Show Queen in 1966. In in the early 70's she would record a song that would make her major star.

 

Lynn Anderson started out on the small Chart label and had a couple of Top Ten hits and then moved up to Columbia Records.

In 1971 she recorded a song written by Joe South, "Rose Garden". The song earned her that year the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award and a Grammy. The song not only went Number One on the country charts but crossed over a reached Number Three on the pop charts.

In the next four years she would record several Top 10 hits including four Number One's.
