Rick’s Retro Rack Crusin’ Down Highway 101 [VIDEO]

On today’s “retro rack” is Highway 101, a group that was on top of the country music world in the late 80′s through the early 90′s.

 

They all met in a Los Angeles studio in 1986, less than six months later they had a record deal with Warner Bros.

The lead singer, Paulette Carlson was from Minnesota, on guitar was Jack Daniels. On bass, guitar and mandolin was Curtis Stone and Cactus Moser played drums.

By 1987, they released a self-titled album and the first two singles, “The Bed You Made For Me” and “Whiskey, If You Were A Woman” both shot to the Top Five.

Their next two releases off the album, “Somewhere Tonight” and “Cry, Cry , Cry” both went to Number One.

They were named the CMA’s Group of the Year in 1987 and ’89 and ACM’s Vocal Group of the Year in 1987.
