Playa Lake In Lubbock Park Drying Up

The drought continues it's strangle hold on Lubbock and the South Plains. Some experts believe it will last into 2012 and that's not good news.

How dry is it? Driving around Lubbock I was passing by Maxey Park and couldn't believe my eyes. The playa lake there in the park is drying to a giant puddle. This really a sad sight to see because with the lake Maxey is one of the most beatiful parks in the city.

Lubbock continues to set records for days at 100 plus temperatures. The drought situation doesn't look like it get better with August traditionally being the driest month of the year.
