She was born into country music royalty. She's the daughter of country music legend Mel Tillis, born July 24th, 1957. She's Pam Tillis and on this day in 2000, she joined the Grand Ole Opry.
It wasn't the first time she was on the Opry stage. Tillis made her singing debut their at the age of 8.

She worked as a demo singer, performed in clubs, was a back-up singer and sang jingles for Hardee's and Equal Sweetner.

She has also written songs for Conway Twitty, Ricky Van Shelton, Janie Fricke and more.

When she joined the Grand Ole Opry, one of the songs she sang was "Maybe It Was Memphis," a huge hit for her in 1992.
