On this "one hit wonder Wednesday" is a singer/songwriter that hit the country music scene running. But after his first hit song, he wasn't able to score that big follow up.

Rhett Akins grew up in Georgia. In 1992 he moved to Nashville and began, like most that move there, singing demos. He finally got a contract with Decca Records.

His first two singles in 1994 didn't do much. The following year, he hit it big with a song called "That Ain't My Truck". It shot to Number Three on the charts and became his signature song.

His next songs didn't duplicate the success he had with "That Ain't MY Truck".

But he has written songs that have been huge hits for other artists, namely Blake Shelton, who had a Number One song with "Honey Bee". It was co-written by Akins.
