Thomas Dold, from Stuttgart, Germany, won the annual race up the 86 flights of stairs(1,576 steps) at the Empire State Building. This is a record seventh win for the 27-year-old! His time was 10 minutes, 28 seconds--or about 8 seconds a flight and that's moving!

The event, which this year saw 650 participants, is held every year by the New York Road Runners who also host the New York City Marathon.

The women's winner is Melissa Moon of New Zealand in just over 12 minutes.

She told the Associated Press, "I knew I had it when I got to the 70th floor and I could no longer hear them breathing behind me."
