"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." While this still may be true for your packages, the US Postal Service will soon cease to deliver mail on Saturdays.

There's a big long round about way of giving you the schedule of how the mail will run but here it is in simpler terms:

-General mail will be delivered to homes and businesses only from Monday through Friday.

-The new plan will take affect beginning Aug. 5th and will save about $2 billion dollars annually.

-Post Offices that are currently open on Saturdays will stay open on Saturdays and deliver mail to post offices boxes within their location. However, no new locations will open on Saturdays.

So if getting post on Saturdays is important to you, you might think about finding a local post office that is already open on Saturdays and rent a PO Box from them, soon!

Most folks won't mind the change in delivery. Times are tough and the Postal Service is just making cut backs like all of us with our budget.

What do you think Lubbock? Is there some obvious draw back to not having mail delivered on Saturdays that we're not seeing? or are you okay with the cuts the Postal Service is having to make?
