The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are finally expecting! The family made an official announcement yesterday. They admitted they would have like to keep the news a secret a little longer, but decided it best to explain, especially since the pregnancy shed light on a rare condition that put Kate Middleton in the hospital.

That's right! The couple of it's generation, William and Kate are finally expecting an heir! The family is said to be 'delighted', Starcrush reads.

The family decided it was time to tell the world about their good news when 'acute morning sickness' put Kate in the hospital.

The pregnancy is a wonderful thing for them, but has shed light on a rare condition that will most likely have her bed ridden for the majority of the beginning of her pregnancy.

The condition, Hyperemesis Gravidarum, involves symptoms such as severe morning sickness, dehydration, and weight loss. Follow the link and hear Dr. Kecia Gaither, director of maternal fetal medicine at Brookdale University and Medical Center in New York, speak more about treatment of the condition and explain further.

As for the baby, thankfully this condition doesn't pose a risk for the heir, but the world will be watching and hoping that the risks that pose a threat to Kate don't prevail.

Let the baby bump watching begin!
