Hot Temps Not Good For Man Or Snakes

Hulton Archive, Getty Images
Recently I received an email with photos of a pit of snakes that were wrapped around each other escaping the heat. With the string of 100+ temps we’ve had I’ve found snakes don’t like hot weather any more than you or I do. In fact if it gets over 105 degrees snakes usually can’t survive. And to get out of the hot weather, they slither back to a cool spot and wait to surprise you. WFAA.com says herpetologists(snake experts) warn they are more likely to bite in hot weather….the snakes, that is. The number of snake bites has doubled in some Texas counties this year. As far as treatment, cutting the wound to remove the venom is outdated say researchers and urge professional medical treatment immediately.
