Today, September 27th of 2012, Google turns 14!

14 years ago on this day, Google was invented by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The two phD students, at that time, invented Google while studying Computer Science at Stanford University in California.

Originally, they were running a search engine called 'Backrub' out of their dorms and from the university's servers, but quickly outgrew both.

They formed the company called 'Google' in 1998 and haven't looked back since! The name is a play on the word googol, the term used to describe the number 1 followed by 100 zeros.

'To Google' has been added to the American Lexicon and who hasn't used or heard the phrase, 'Google it' . It's become a verb in our everyday language.

Here's to you Google! Cheers on your 14th birthday!
