Unfortunately, it's not April Fools Day. George Strait has begun to set the dates for his final tour. Lucky for us, Lubbock is included on the list!

The King of Country announced this afternoon his plans for a final two-year concert tour. The touch of sweet in this bitter news is that Lubbock will be his first stop on the list and he is bringing along with him one legendary female artist to set the stage for his farewell tour.

In a press conference this afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee, George Strait announced plans for 'The Cowboy Rides Away Tour'. Strait revealed the first 20 markets he will visit during the winter 2013 leg of this tour. Setting the stage for his final tour, Strait is bringing along with him Martina McBride!

After celebrating his 60th birthday earlier this year, Strait shared,

“This is going to be a very special, emotional tour for me. Everywhere we’re going holds fond memories and I’m looking forward to paying my respects.”

'The Cowboy Rides Away Tour' will give George Strait fans one last chance to see him live, performing all of his greatest hits from throughout his career. Strait still plans on recording new music and will play select dates around the US following the tour. So, you can take a sigh of relief to learn this final tour doesn't necessarily mean retirement!

George Strait and Martina McBride will be in Lubbock on Friday, January 18th. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 12th at 10am at www.selectaseatlubbock.com.
