It's Monday, the first day of the week and it's also when we feature the first number one song from one of today's top country music artist. Today, it's Trace Adkins.

Trace Adkins grew up in Louisiana, started playing the guitar at an early age and studied music at Louisiana Tech.

He started pursuing a solo career in the early 90's and played all the honky tonks and clubs he could.

He made the move to Nashville to try his luck. Well, Scott Hendricks of Capitol Records must have liked that big baritone voice and signed Adkins to a contract.

His debut album, "Dreamin' Out Loud", came out in 1996. The first release, "Every Light In The House" went to number three. The second song aff the album, "I Left Something Turned On At Home" went to number two.

But the third release was the charm. "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing" went to the top of the charts.
