Brantley Gilbert's name keeps popping up when you mention outlaw country and names like Colt Ford and Jason Aldean. All three guys hail from Georgia, their music echoing the "Lynyrd Skynyrd" sound.

When Brantley Gilbert had his first album ready in 2006, he had to wait three years before the Average Joe label picked it up and released it in 2009. That album, "Modern Day Prodigal Son," released in October of that year features "My Kinda Party" and "Picture on the Dashboard," the latter which I feel showcases his songwriting abilities.

This biographer has compared his music to that of John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle. Gilbert's songs have been recorded by Jason Aldean and Colt Ford, and he and Colt teamed together to write the CMA Song of the Year-nominated "Dirt Road Anthem." So, it's no wonder Brantley Gilbert is launching a lasting career in the business. He's due at Wild West in Lubbock, Friday, December 1, on his Taste of Country Christmas Tour. Can't wait. Here's one of his earlier songs that I hope will be part of that concert.
