Attention Songwriters! Here’s Dierks’ Advice [VIDEO]

In a recent guest column for “Esquire” magazine, Dierks Bentley has great tips on “How to Write a Song (for a Woman)”. He says to avoid the generic, “The only reason Justin Bieber can get away with a whole chorus that uses only the words ‘baby’ and ‘ooh’ is because he’s Justin Bieber”. And when performing, if you mess up, it’s no big deal. He says when he forgets the words during a show, he rewrites them on the spot and no one seems to mind.

He suggests keeping a few emergency rhymes in mind: “baby” and “lady”, “girl” and “world”, “apart” and “heart”, and “desire” and “fire”. Here’s a fun video of a great Dierks’ song.
