Coach Dan Spencer and his Red Raider baseball team are at the Houston College Classic this weekend. It's played at Minute Maid Park, the home of the Houston Astros.

It's the seventh time that Tech has played in the Classic where they are 5 and 13 overall.

Tech had a great opening season nine game home stand in which they went 8-1. In fact they swept the Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic, winning all five games.

Tech will open up down in Houston against #4 Arkansas today. Then the Red Raiders will play #4 Rice on Saturday and Houston on Sunday.

Tech's Duke von Schamann will take the hill against the Razorbacks. The Duke is 2-0 on the year so far and has an era of 0.00.

One of the many bright spots for Tech this year is the production of freshman Tim Proudfoot at shortstop. He batted .429 in the Red Raider Classic, going 6 for 14 with three runs, two triples, ( he now has three) and six RBI's. He also had 17 assists at the shortstop position.

Tech will be facing two of the best programs in the country and it will be a good test for them.
